As an industry leader in the foodservice industry for more than 150 years, US Foods has evolved into one of the top broadline foodservice distributors in North America. With annual revenues exceeding $20 Billion, US Foods offers more than 350,000 national brand food products and exclusive brand items ranging from fresh meats and produce, to prepared and frozen foods. At nearly 25,000 employees, US Foods operates more than 60 distribution centers serving over 250,000 customers including independent and multi-unit restaurants, healthcare and hospitality, government and educational institutions.
US Foods' challenge was to transition its current forecast/replenishment model from a distributive-based format to a regional/centralized distribution planning model. With 20 facilities using the JDA Advanced Warehouse Replenishment solution, and another 45 facilities on a custom, in-house legacy system, the main goal of the transition was to improve visibility, communication, and customer service for both US Foods' vendors and customers. In addition, the transition needed to happen quickly.
Through the JDA Cloud Launch solution, US Foods was able to begin working in the newly created environment within weeks of their initial order for service. Full production-level support was delivered to US Foods in one business day enabling a much faster roll-out schedule than a traditional in-house managed deployment.
